A verse for closing the summer season

Summer is Ending

“Summer is ending!” the mother bear said,
“In yonder tree hollow I’ll build me a bed.”
“Summer is ending!” said all the gold weeds,
And so, softly sighing, they scattered their seeds
“Summer is ending!” the hurricane cried,
Hurling and whirling harsh winds high and wide
“Summer is ending,” said fiery King Sun,
“My flame must grow fainter, then fade out to
 none!

A first post, and a first tutorial

This is our first post.  I thought I would start with a little craft tutorial as a way to say thank you to the crafty blogosphere that has given me so much through the years. It’s not perfect.  I dropped my camera on cement halfway through so some of the pictures didn’t come out. At least I get to shop for a more up to date camera soon. This is a kids craft tutorial for a flower bonnet that opens and closes with a string. My daughter loves hers. We made a mini version for her doll too.  Some would say this is a spring craft, but  the forecast is 95 degrees here tomorrow, and flowers are still blooming everywhere. We are also working on a science unit on plants & their parts, and this craft fit nicely with the subject. Tutorial below.
