Despereaux and the peanut butter playdough mice
We just finished reading “Despereaux” by Kate DeCamillo. It is a wonderful archetypal story about darkness & light, and how bringing a little light to the darkness can make all the difference in the world. It is a perfect theme as we approach the autumnal equinox, when day and night are even, and Michaelmas when we are to look to the light within. It comes highly recommend by myself & my 8 year old elf. In the book Gregory the jailer says “stories are light”, and this book certainly affirms that statement. When we finished the book today we decided to make peanut butter mice in honor of our rodent hero Despereaux. The super simple recipe below will make many mice, and other things little hands want to sculpt. You probably have all of the ingredients in your pantry already. It has the consistency of playdough, and flavor of peanut butter fudge. It can easily be made vegan or just as easily not. The recipe is below. Enjoy!
